Removal of Tattoos and Pigmented Spots
tattoo removalGetting a tattoo may be a very exciting thing but unfortunately getting rid of a tattoo may not .It is estimated that 50% of those who get tattoos later wish that they did not do so. Sometimes they outgrow the impulse or relationship that led to the tattoo. Sometimes tattoos are poorly done. Sometimes they are poorly placed and sometimes they can be infected or scarred. They can be a stigma which is socially and culturally disabling.

Because tattoos are placed deeply in the skin they previously they were removed to some extent by dermabrasion, chemicals or excision. These methods produced scarring which could be equally unattractive. Now we use Q-switched lasers for removal.

We have removed homemade tattoos in one session and sometimes I have had difficulty removing a tattoo after many sessions. There are over a hundred dyes used for professional tattoos and some are more difficult to remove than others. They tend to fade over time.

We use Q-switched Nd: YAG and Q-switched KTP lasers for tattoo removal.
For removal of pigmented spots we use Q-switched KTP and Nd: YAG lasers or the long pulsed Alexandrite lasers.
